QUOTES OF THE WEEK

"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world."

-Anne Frank

"The New Year brings 365 days of opportunity."

Achieve What You Set  Out to Achieve

All of us have reached a certain level of success.  As we embark upon a brand new year, there are even more remarkable things that we aspire to do.  There's a big difference, however, between thinking about what we want to achieve, and actually taking the steps that lead us to achievement. There's even a bigger difference between our daily thoughts, and our daily actions.  Promotion, loving relationships, increased income, "dream cars," optimal health-all of your dreams-can become your reality when you separate your thinking...from your doing.  Here's a great strategy.  When planning your day, write down your daily tasks hours in advance; ideally, the night before. Next, clearly identify your day's objectives including the appropriate actions that will connect you to each goal.  Setting clear objectives empowers you to achieve anything you desire to achieve.  Be sure to reserve the appropriate amount of time to complete each objective.  Finally, expect success and follow through!  "The greatest plan, ever" is worthless unless the written steps are followed through completion.  Achieve what you set out to achieve.  Separate your thinking from your doing and ultimately, your doing will become, "It's done!"

Stay Inspired

If you're not inspired every single day, it's time to set exciting, stimulating and captivating goals every single day. The greater the goal, the greater the excitement to achieve with. Goal BIG!  Pass on the mediocre, mundane and anything that requires minimal effort. Set targets that make you stretch.  Get ready to transform your life and change your world! Life's greatest satisfaction comes from attaining goals that you-or others-once believed were well beyond your reach.  Go ahead, ignite your spirit.  Commit to setting powerful, high-energy goals every single day and watch your passion for life explode!

Set Regular Targets and Soar from Success to Success!

At the time of his death in 1931, Thomas Edison held 1,093 patents; the current world's record for an individual. Edison encouraged his productivity and spectacular success by setting regular targets.  He referred to these targets as "idea quotas."  Two of his targets included one minor invention every 10 days; and, one major invention every six months.  Absolutely incredible!  Few would argue that Thomas Edison consistently tapped into his "genius."  Guess what?  There's a genius in all of us!  Edison's genius flourished because of the Einstein-like demand he put on it.  Edison discovered early on that thinking skills are greatly enhanced when put under pressure.  He set consistent targets and attached challenging deadlines to each.  This system, along with self-imposed pressure on his intellect, helped him reach his goals...  Now it's your turn.  Aim for six minor projects each day; and one major project every six months.  Untap and demand more from your genius today.

Put a Couple of Elephants on Your Plate

How do you eat two elephants?  The same way you would eat one; one bite at a time.  Monstrous tasks often appear to be complex and overwhelming.  That's why it's so very important to isolate the parts from the whole.  Break your elephant-sized project into several smaller tasks. Target one area and cut it down to size.  Lather, rinse, and eat.  The key is to begin!  It doesn't matter if you have 2 or 22 elephants on your agenda. Put one of them on your plate today.  Target one part and start.  Dedicate the thirty or more minutes you would normally spend watching TV, and dig in.  You'll not only produce greater personal and professional results, you'll take a bite out of wasted time.

Coffee (Beans), Anyone?

In Mary Sullivan's brilliant essay, "Are You a Carrot, an Egg or a Bean?" she depicts a distraught daughter explaining to her mother about how "hard" life is.  It's so hard, the daughter contemplates the option of "ending it all."

The mother escorts her daughter to the kitchen and immediately fills three pots with water and puts them on the stove.

In the first pot she places carrots.
In the second she places eggs.
And in the third pot, she places coffee beans.

Without saying a word she lets them boil.  Twenty minutes later, she turns off the burners.  She takes out the carrots and places them in a bowl. Next, she takes the eggs out and places them in a bowl. Then, she ladles out the coffee and places it in a bowl.

The daughter then asks, "Mother, what's your point?"

Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity - boiling water.  However, each responded differently. The carrots went in strong and unrelenting; but after being subjected to the boiling water, they lost their strength.
The eggs were "soft-hearted;" but after sitting through the boiling water, they became hard.  Their conditions had changed them.
However, the coffee beans were unique.  After being placed in boiling water, the coffee beans changed the water.
What an awesome analogy.  The coffee beans not only changed the water, but they released a pleasant aroma that filled the entire house!  When life leads you to your "boiling point," do as coffee beans do.  Change your conditions and release your greatness within.

I received this e-mail a couple weeks ago from my friend, Mike Litman.  It's a letter from one of his students.  It inspired him (and myself) so greatly, I thought I'd share it with you.  Enjoy!

Tammy Lee's E-mail

I have been taking action steps that would have most people hiding under their blankets.  I am not saying that I don't experience the fear, because I do. I just don't let it stop me. One baby step at a time to success, that is what I tell myself. Since I have more ACTION-MINDED people in my life and in my business... WOW, things have started to move. I am meeting more and more action people that along with me are soaring to the top.  You are so right Mike, people don't have to get it right, they just have to get it going. Since I got going back in April, my net worth has gone from very little, to well over $1,000,000 dollars. Oh my, Mike; how great and grand 2005 is going to be.  Tell all your students this; this was accomplished by a woman who lives in rural Kansas, and has been a stay at home mother raising 5 children for most of her 25 years of marriage.

I remember something that I believe Jim Rohn said. Whatever you experience early in life is your training for what you are going to experience later in life. I have raised 5 children and I've been married for almost 25 years; it has had its challenges.  However, my perseverance, trust and faith have held me together all these years.  In February 2005, I'm officially going to join forces with a new Foundation called "The World Harmony Foundation," which reaches children across the world helping to create peace and communication through the arts. I was asked by THEM to join their team.

I'm just a small town girl, a stay-at-home mom in rural Kansas with a high school diploma. Tell your students Mike, If I can do it...THEY CAN DO IT.
No excuses allowed. Walk by Faith and Believe. Take Action and walk through the fear. YOU CAN DO IT!!!

With Love, Blessings and Gratitude.
