Become Who You Already Are

Have you ever dreamed of being more than you are?  Do you have ideas, places you want to go and things you want to do, but lack the belief to follow through?  Who is it that you truly desire to be?  Don't allow procrastination to keep you from your transformation. Each day you wait, is a day of having your life be lived, without you.  Create a clear vision of who you are today.  Hey, "The Kingdom of God is within you." (Luke 17:21)  Keep in front of your mind, who you've always been, all this time.  Live your life so it reflects excellence, honorable characteristics and your God-given abilities.  Stop being the you, sub-par.  Remind yourself of - then become - the you, you already are.

The Goal to Do So

Every individual who ever climbed Mt. Everest had the goal to do so.  Every athlete who ever competed in the Olympic Games, had the goal to do so.  Any person who ever bought a home of their own, had the goal to do so.  All of these are monumental accomplishments.  But what about the mundane?  Here is a little-known success secret: To succeed in any area of your life, approach every task - from the most monumental to the most mundane - with the goal to do so.  Each success will immediately lead you to your next success.  Starting today, give yourself permission to perform with magnificence.  Eventually, you will be living the life of your dreams

Your Success is Easy as 1-3-5

Here's a great strategy for attaining your most-desired results for every area of your life.  Grab a sheet of paper, preferably a notebook, and list these seven disciplines: Spiritual, Financial, Career, Personal, Intellectual, Physical and Social. Under each discipline, document where you are today - i.e., "now."  Next, draw a line down the center of the page.  List in column formation, the same seven disciplines.  Write down where you truly desire to be 1 year from "now."  Take another sheet and write down, where you are "now," and where you plan to be 3 years from "now."  Take another sheet and write down where you are "now," and where you plan to be 5 years from now.  Here's an example:

"Now"                                                                            1 Year from "Now"

Financial                                                                       Financial
Earning $2,500 month                                                  Earning $4,000 per month or more

Career                                                                           Career
Plant Operator                                                               Plant Manager

Physical                                                                        Physical
178 pounds.  Not working out at all.                           143 pounds.  Enjoying working out 4 days a week.

Your life won't transform into the greater until you get super clear, super focused and super committed. Put it in writing.  Read it, feel it and allow it to become a part of you.  What kind of car do you want?  Saying so is not enough!  Write it down, design your plan then go to work and make it happen!

Love the Opportunity by Jim Rohn

Somebody said you have to love what you do, but that's not necessarily true. What is true is that you have to love the opportunity. The opportunity to build life, future, health, success and fortune. Knocking on someone's door or making that extra call may not be something you love to do, but you love the opportunity of what might be behind that door or call.  For example, a guy says: "I'm digging ditches. Should I love digging ditches?" The answer is, no.  You don't have to love digging ditches, but if it is your first entry onto the ladder of success, say: "I'm glad somebody gave me the opportunity to dig ditches and I'm going to do it so well, I won't be here long."

A Vision Shared

Many years ago, at the age of about 10 or 11 I had my first drink of alcohol. Because of the festive nature of my family and the times we were in, it was easy for me to sneak around at parties and such. As I grew into adolescence-as is the case with so many other people - my vision became blurred with conformity and the desire to please other people. I naturally moved from drinking to smoking pot which became my drug of choice for the next 25 years. Who says it's not addicting?  Give me a break! This is not to say that I discriminated in anyway.  I was an equal opportunity drug abuser, to a certain point. You see, this was my way of justifying my addictions: "At least I don't shoot up!"

Here's the thing with substance abuse; It's not so much what you're doing to your body, as much as what your doing to your spirit. Even when your not high, your primary thought is on your NEXT high.  By the time adulthood set in, I was a master at self-deception. Things seemed to be going good.  I had a good job, I married a great person (whom I could share in my addiction with), we started to raise a family.  I was good at leading a double life. Then the crash! It always comes, but unfortunately some people never come out of it.  I give all the Glory to God for not ever forsaking me, and for blessing me with a wife that would not, and does not compromise in her commitment.  We are going on 1 year of total sobriety which has obvious changed our lives, but even more than what I could have imagined!  I can remember times of despair where I would look through a foggy window and see, in some far off place, my dreams coming true. My vision became one of just getting to a place to start over. I was spiritually drained.

I'm excited now that I can envision dreams of true success for my life!  Where my thinking was dull and foggy, it is now full of ideas and possibilities. It's amazing how things grow when the ground is fertile.  Things like my wife training for a marathon, us positioning ourselves to buy our first house, and me taking on a better position at my job has proven to me that having vision for your life leads to fulfillment and accomplishment.

Thank you for letting me share.

Let Your Memory Serve You

Our memories are emotionally and sensory-based video clips of our life experiences.  They are crystallized recollections of what we saw, heard, sensed and felt.  We have the power to re-live our memories in our heads over and over and over again.  And, we do.  When our incredibly powerful subconscious replays the clip, we experience the memory with the same emotional and sensory intensity, as when it was originally recorded.  To choose to consistently re-live our defeats, pains and fears is a disservice to our God-given abilities, health, energy and loved ones.  Let your memory serve you.  Let your memory serve you well!  Re-live your successes, money-making skills and childhood dreams and goals. Not your losses, "could-have beens" or "should-have-been-me," woes.
